Non-Audition Adult Orchestras
Health and Wellness Community Orchestra
*** On temporary break due to COVID-19 ***
The orchestra's first concert was held in the Fall of 2008 at Poudre Valley Hospital. The orchestra was initially a hospital-based orchestra, but has since grown into a full community orchestra. Players are a mix of semi-professional musicians and adults who have returned to playing.
Funds are held in the University of Colorado Health Foundation and the orchestra works in partnership with Front Range Community College. FRCC students are able to earn credit by participating in the orchestra. There are no auditions, but we do talk with players about their playing experience to ensure the experience will be fulfilling to the musician.
This orchestra accepts adult players from many backgrounds. Players under the age of 18 or still in high school should contact one of the many Youth programs.
Contact: Leslie Stewart , (970) 219-5985
Where/When: Sunday evenings, 6:00 - 8:30pm, Instrument Rehearsal Hall, University Center for the Arts, CSU, 1400 Remington Street
Donation to FRCC Orchestra fund: $100/concert or any other donation accepted to the FRCC Foundation - Orchestra Fund

Choice City Strings (formerly called Mostly Older Beginners or “MOB")
This small, string orchestra of amateurs is over 10 years old. It was started by cellist Katherine Azari as a non-audition group for adult string players desiring an ensemble experience. Choice City Strings would like to expand, especially its violin and viola sections. Perhaps you are a “former” string player whose instrument has followed you around since high school or college. This is a chance to put music-making back into your life in an informal way, without stress or pressure. We have a great coach/conductor (violist Glesse Collet), lovely music, and a welcoming group of players. We meet during the school year and perform at the end of each semester.
Contact: Toni Atkinson, toniatkinson@hotmail.com (970) 484-0325
Where/When: Monday evenings, 7:00 - 8:30 pm, Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 E. Stuart St, Fort Collins, CO 80524
Fee to cover conductor and music: $50/semester
Donation to church for use of room: $1.00/person/rehearsal
